Russian-American Cultural Cooperation

Cultural ties between Russia and the United States are developing. Russian art exhibitions, expositions from leading museums and tours by Russian classical music, theater and ballet performers traditionally become an important event in the U.S. social life. Such renowned Russian companies as the Mariinsky Theater of Ballet and Opera, the Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, the Moscow Soloists Chamber Orchestra and the Sretensky Monastery Male Choir were repeatedly honored withstanding ovations in Washington, New York and other U.S. cities. A joint educational project of the Russian Embassy and American University - Initiative for Russian Culture, aimed at promoting study of the Russian culture among young Americans, is successfully carried out. The initiative’s Russian partner is the Mosfilm movie studio, which has produced films that gained prominence around the world. More than 5000 people have already watched Russian films in the framework of the project. The initiative’s first anniversary was celebrated in the Library of the Congress in October, 2012. The Russian Embassy and the Russian Cultural Center regularly hold musical and artistic events, which invariably gather large audiences of Russian art admirers.
