Press release on Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s meeting with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on the sidelines of the 31st session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva. During the conversation they discussed developments in Syria in the context of the agreed-upon ceasefire and the need to counter the terrorist threat emanating, in part, from the Islamic State and Jabhat al-Nusra. Mr Lavrov reaffirmed Russia’s readiness to cooperate with all interested parties to help the region’s countries resolve their problems.
Mr Lavrov and Mr Ban Ki-moon also exchanged opinions on the situation on the Korean peninsula in the context of the UN discussion of a draft resolution on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and reviewed the course of settlement in Ukraine.
