On consular registration of citizens of the Russian Federation adopted by American families

In order to ensure a more effective protection of human rights and interests of Russian children in U.S. foster families, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and Russian foreign missions in the U.S. invite all adopted compatriots, along with their adoptive parents to contact the Russian consular posts for verification of personal data and consular registration.

Information pertaining to the period before the passing of the regulation of the Government of the Russian Federation #275 of March 29th, 2000, which introduced new principles on mandatory consular registration of Russian children adopted by foreign citizens and persons without citizenship, is of special interest.

This will allow to create a more comprehensive list of children from Russia currently living in the United States, in order to have the ability to provide consular and legal assistance in case of emergency. We would appreciate understanding and cooperation of the adoptive parents in this matter.

We also welcome any information from public organizations and individuals about Russian children in the U.S., who have found themselves in poor conditions and are in need of support. We expect that compatriot organizations will be actively involved in this important work utilizing their informational resources and contacts.
