On February 8, the Russian Embassy held a special reception on the occasion of the professional holiday of Russian diplomatic service. The event traditionally brought together a large number of diplomats from CIS missions.

In his welcoming speech, Ambassador Yuri V. Ushakov noted the symbolism of the fact that Russian diplomats celebrate the holiday with their colleagues from the CIS missions, since many of them went through the school of Soviet diplomacy, graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) and the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs. It was also stressed that the Diplomat’s Day became a symbol of the continuity of the best traditions and the renewal the diplomatic service, which keeps up with the times.

The reception was held in a friendly and warm atmosphere. The Embassy’s diplomatic staff performed a comic song about the day-to-day work of a diplomat in Washington.
